Golden is located on the Western side of the Rockies, in Eastern British Columbia, just west of the Alberta border. It is a geographically complex region. Three mountain ranges (the Rockies, the Purcells and the Selkirks) meet at the Kicking Horse Pass.

The town of Golden is nestled at the base of these ranges in the Columbia Valley. It is just off of the Trans-Canada Highway and North of Highway 93 which comes out of western Montana.

Golden is about a ten-hour drive from Vancouver and a three hour drive from Calgary. It's about 5 hours from Missoula, Montana (this is a really beautiful drive).

If you're not driving, there is a new twice-a-week flight from Vancouver that takes about 3 hours. You can also fly into Calgary and take the bus from there. If you're really into seeing Canada then you could also take the bus from Vancouver. It takes about 11 or 12 hours and you'll definitely meet some Canadians ("Two dollars for a hotdog! Shit, I could buy a pig for two dollars!")

Robson's property is about three miles up the base of Mt. Seven. Mt. Seven is on the Southeast side of Golden and gains its name from the glacier that looks like a 7 that is visible from the south. It's covered in old growth forest and is a favorite spot for mountain bikers and paragliders. There is also lots of logging on the back and top. Robson's land is new growth (logged in the '50's) of Spruce and Poplar and some Birch. There are lots of bears in the spring and deer, rabbits and little chipmunk things throughout the summer.
